Exeter Airport - marketing campaign 2010 – 2011

Exeter International Airport recently ran a marketing campaign to promote online booking of their onsite car parks and in turn, help support a local wildlife and conservation charity; The Offwell Woodland and Wildlife Trust.  Physically located on the flight path of the airport, the trust actively promotes wildlife & countryside conservation and education. For every online car parking booking, Exeter Airport is donating £1 to the trust.

Design Centric were delighted to win a six-way pitch for the design and implementation of the campaign. The brief was to design a campaign to promote the pre-booking discount achieved through online booking and demonstrate Exeter’s commitment to the environment, in particular their support of the Offwell Trust.

The campaign includes an advertising campaign running across the south-west in local publications and periodicals and an array of on-site graphics, including: hanging banners throughout the airport terminal, advertising hoardings, external vinyl decals, a large 8m long banner, plus various printed collateral.

Our design was kept simple and clean, re-enforcing the company’s brand identity. Design concepts utilise illustrative silhouettes of various wildlife species against a backdrop of countryside views. With the recent brand update for Exeter Airport, the design has been crafted to compliment and build upon the new brand identity. Utilising the corporate colour pallet and the stylistic illustrative approach – the campaign fits nicely into the brand identity and strengthens their brand values in the area of ecological awareness.

The advertising campaign will be ongoing throughout the year and likely run into 2011.

The Caring Box Company

The Caring Box Company is a Devon based business promoting a unique concept of specialised gift boxes for those in hospital or care.

Over the past 12 months, Design Centric have taken Caring Box through a process of defining brand, designing collateral and delivering an e-commerce platform that their business now depends upon.

Our involvement started with a general enquiry regarding website design. Over time, a professional and trusting relationship has been forged. We are delighted to have helped Caring Box establish a professional identity throughout their external facing packaging, literature, website and advertising. It has been a great project to work on, particularly as we have started from inception and pulled our design and marketing skills through to help establish a successful business.

Brand development and collateral design
It was important the brand identity reflected the businesses ethos – one of care and delivering a high quality service and product range. A design was soon established and deployed across packaging, marketing collateral, catalogues, adverting and ultimately their website.  Corporate guidelines and master artwork files have been created to ensure the brand identity remains consistent.

On-line Shop
We were able to offer Caring Box in-depth product inventory management and order management, as well as content management, and payment gateway integration. Further development was undertaken to build a stock control application to micro-manage contents within each box set.

The initial population and administration of the on-line shop was undertaken by Design Centric to help Caring Box go live as soon as possible. Order management and fulfillment is undertaken directly by Caring Box via a clean, easy to use administration interface.

Design Centric have worked with Caring Box in the following areas:

  • brand definition and identity look and feel
  • packaging (design, artwork, sourcing and production management)
  • product development
  • website (design, implementation, payment gateway integration, population and management)
  • photography (pack shot photography for print and the web)
  • marketing collateral (design, artwork, print)
  • sales collateral – product catalogue (design, artwork, print)
  • advertising (consultancy, design, artwork)

We are delighted to continue to work with Caring Box as their business grows and new challenges arise.

"Design Centric have proved to be a real asset to our business.  Their business acumen and proactive, creative approach has provided many ideas that have helped to make our business successful ".

ICC World Twenty20 Cricket 2010 – Website design and build

The World Twenty20 is fast becoming crickets most popular and dynamic event. Design Centric were thrilled to be approached by the ICC to design and develop a key website for the tournament.

The ICC World Twenty20 is the international championship of Twenty20 cricket; an event organised by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC). This year, the tournament is located in the Caribbean.

We were approached to undertake the design and build of a website for the sale and promotion of official corporate hospitality at the tournament. Having completed a previous website for the Cricket World Cup in 2007, Design Centric were well placed to undertake a similar project for this years World Twenty20 series.

Working directly with the ICC, Design Centric designed and implemented a content managed website in-line with the event branding - www.windiescrickethospitality.com

Design Centric also undertook the search engine optimisation (SEO) for the WT20 website, which quickly gained a very high ranking – even amongst stiff competition. It continues to rank very well and bookings are going fast!

The website also includes a relatively new technology - PDF AcroForms. PDF forms were deployed to enable booking information to be captured (online or offline) with all the advantages PDF Forms employs.

“Design Centric not only produced a savvy, user orientated and highly user friendly website, they also ensured that through careful screening of text, headers, layout, key words and a multitude of other SEO tools, that we consistently ranked highly or highest in a variety of common and even rare searches that our potential client base were likely to perform. We have been extremely happy with the results, and we will continue to use their expert guidance and production for future events and endeavours”

Gidleigh Park and The Bath Priory Brochures

Gidleigh Park Hotel is a Relais & Chateaux luxury hotel set in 107 acres of parkland in the heart of Dartmoor National Park.  Part of the Brownsword group, Gidleigh Park is sister hotel to The Bath Priory.

Our most recent project was to design and produce the guest services brochures for both Gidleigh Park and The Bath Priory. With a wealth of beautiful photography available and the high quality environments both hotels exude, two beautifully crafted brochures were in the making. We designed the brochures to complement existing literature and present guest services information in a stylish, yet simple to use format.

The brochures were partially funded through advertising, which Design Centric also undertook the sales and management of.

The brochures are scheduled to have at least a three year life, although reprints are expected over the term.  We continue to work with the group in developing further marketing collateral.

Design Centric services included:

  • Project management
  • Design
  • Artwork
  • Print
  • Advertising sales and management
  • Image sourcing

The Cavendish Group – micro sites

The Cavendish Group is one of the leading corporate hospitality companies in the world, offering customers an unforgettable experience at most of the major sporting and cultural events throughout the year.

Design Centric has undertaken many projects for Cavendish over the years and has established a strong working relationship, built on trust – and results. Numerous projects have been undertaken for Cavendish over the years, including hospitality websites and associated marketing collateral for the recent Tutankhamun Exhibition, Rugby World Cup and Cricket World Cup.

Recently, we were approached by Cavendish to create a micro-site template, which could then be applied to some of their most popular events. With some simple styling changes and populating content via our easy to use Content Management System (CMS), we can deploy a micro-site very quickly.

Wimbledon Hospitality was the first off the blocks mid-April 2010, followed shortly after by Twickenham Hospitality and Cheltenham Hospitality. These websites can be actively managed by the Cavendish team to optimise for search engine ranking. The CMS tool allows for meta data content management as well as the visible text, images, links etc. Further micro-sites are likely to be rolled out throughout the year.
